The House The 50s Built – TV Programme

Just a quick post to let you know about a must-watch tv programme for anyone interested in British interiors of the 1950sChannel 4’s new series, The House The 50s Built, begins on Thursday 7th June, 9pm.  There are four episodes in total, the first one features the kitchen and the second the living room.  The programme is fronted by Professor Brendan Walker with contributions from Maureen Lipman, Fay Weldon, Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway and Kevin McCloud.

  1. Well, I can’t see it because it’s on C4 and I don’t live in England at the moment. Regarding the photo of the kitchen though, we had one like that until about 1981! And even after that it didn’t change much, just the addition of a bigger fridge and new cupboard handles.

      Thank you so much for your comment, sorry you aren’t able to view C4’s ‘The House The 50s Built’ in the country where you live. I was interested to read that you still have a 1950s kitchen, albeit with a few modifications. Owning a 1950s kitchen is now highly desirable, very much on-trend.
